We had an amazing opportunity to photograph a Whistler wedding at Roundhouse Lodge this year. There is no doubt how this would be one of the top wedding venues in Whistler, with being high up on the Whistler peak, overlooking miles of mountain landscape. It was spectacular. Apparently Jackie and Steve’s wedding was one of the first weddings in many years to have the ceremony on the front patio overlooking Whistler Village. Jackie and Steve really wanted something spectacular for their wedding, so they chose Roundhouse Lodge at the peak of Whistler. The day of the wedding ended up being a perfect, clear day with not a cloud in sight. Most of their guests were from the United States where they both grew up, so having family and friends come to a destination wedding in Canada, with panoramic views of mountains, was an impression that their guests would soon not forget. They both got ready in the morning at Westin Hotel Whistler, in these huge apartment sized rooms with two floors with mountain views, accompanied by their wedding party and family to get ready for the day. It was a gorgeous ceremony later in the afternoon just before sunset. Steve is Persian, so they combined traditions to have a Sofreh Aghd and a western ceremony. The ceremony was followed by sunset portraits around the mountain. The reception was in the Roundhouse Lodge, decorated beautifully by Bliss Event. I’ve never seen a wedding cake on a swing before, but it looked amazing suspended in the venue with the mountain backdrop. Steve worked hard to put together a special video for Jackie, where he made it into a full production, with with clips from all of their friends and family dancing. Jackie loved it! When the dance party began, there were two guys playing Djembe drums along with DJ Leanne, which had people having epic dance-offs and filling the dance floor for the rest of the night! There was so much energy in the room and an overall great party. At the end of the night as guests were downloading on the gondola, they all had glow sticks lighting up their carts. Thank you Jackie and Steve for choosing us to photograph your special day. It was one of the most beautiful Whistler weddings we’ve ever been to!
