Vancouver City Hall Weddings

Vancouver City Hall offers couples an intimate and iconic setting for their wedding ceremonies, featuring 30-minute micro-weddings in the Council Chamber that accommodate up to 20 guests and require advance booking. Beyond the ceremony, couples can personalize their special day with unique photo opportunities around City Hall, custom touches during the ceremony, and professional photography services, while ensuring all legal requirements and officiant arrangements are met.
Secure Your Wedding Date

Vancouver City Hall’s micro-wedding program requires careful planning and quick action due to high demand. The City of Vancouver’s website indicates that many ceremony slots are fully booked, with no waitlist available. Couples interested in current dates should sign up for the city’s newsletter to receive notifications when new slots open. The booking process involves completing an online form to request a date and time. Ceremonies are offered on Thursdays for up to 10 people at $302.50 plus GST, or Fridays for up to 20 people at $605 plus GST. It’s important to note that this fee only covers the 30-minute venue rental in the Council Chamber and does not include other essentials like the marriage license, officiant, or photographer. Couples should be prepared to book additional vendors separately and act promptly when dates become available to secure their preferred time slot.
Officiant Requirement for Marriage

- City Hall does not provide an officiant as part of the wedding package.
- Couples must hire their own licensed marriage commissioner or religious officiant.
- The officiant must be registered with the Vital Statistics Agency of British Columbia.
- You can find a list of approved marriage commissioners on the BC government website.
- Officiant fees are separate from the City Hall venue rental fee.
- Typical costs for an officiant range from $100-$150.
- The officiant will guide you through the ceremony and sign the marriage license.
- You’ll need to bring your marriage license, obtained separately, to the ceremony.
Remember that City Hall micro-weddings are limited to 30-minute time slots, so work with your chosen officiant to create a concise yet meaningful ceremony that fits within this timeframe.
