Lake Wedding and Photoshoot Locations Around Vancouver

Why Lake Photos Are So Relaxed

Lake weddings and photoshoots around Vancouver and the Fraser Valley are perfect if you want your photos to feel calm, natural, and a bit like a getaway. Still water, mountains, trees, and open sky all come together to create a peaceful backdrop that looks incredible in every season.

Whether it is a full lakefront wedding, an intimate elopement on a rocky shore, or a quick portrait session by the water, lakes give you reflections, big skies, and lots of space to move. The photos feel timeless and very “BC”, without needing a long hike or complicated logistics.

Some of the Best Lake Spots Near Vancouver

There are a lot of great lake locations within a few hours of Vancouver that work well for weddings, elopements, and portraits. Here are a few favourites:

  • The Lodge on Harrison Lake (Harrison Hot Springs) – A private lakefront property with its own beach, dock, and mountain views. It is amazing for full wedding days and elopements where everything happens in one place.

  • Secluded Fraser Valley Lakes – Hidden lakefront spots around the Fraser Valley are perfect for intimate elopements and adventure sessions. Rocky shores, blue green water, and big mountain views make everything feel dramatic and remote.

  • Whonnock Lake (Maple Ridge) – A rustic lakeside venue with a dock, forested park, and a timber framed hall. Great if you want ceremony, portraits, and reception all in one spot.

  • Pitt Lake – Surrounded by mountains and wetlands, Pitt Lake has a wild, open feel that is perfect for sunset sessions and adventure style portraits.

  • Other Waterfront and Lakefront Venues – Many of the beach and waterfront venues around Vancouver also have more of a lake feel, or sit on calm inlets and bays.

How We Photograph Lake Weddings

Lakes are all about light and reflections. The water can bounce sunlight back into the scene, mountains can go dark in the background, and the sky can change from bright to moody pretty quickly. We use off camera lighting and careful timing so you get the best parts of the day, from soft afternoon light to golden hour and blue hour when the colours really pop.

We also pay attention to how the shoreline, docks, boats, and nearby trees frame you in the scene. Bare feet on the beach, wind in your hair, and a bit of movement in the dress or suit can all help the photos feel relaxed and natural. If the weather turns, we lean into it, using clouds, mist, or rain to create moodier, more atmospheric images.

Lake Weddings, Elopements, and Sessions

Lake locations are flexible. You can host a full wedding at a lakefront venue, plan a small elopement on a quiet stretch of shore, or add a lake stop into your portrait time if your main venue is nearby. We help you figure out what makes sense with your timeline and how far you want to travel on the day.
