After 17 years and hundreds of weddings, I can honestly say the Fraser Valley is one of the best places in BC to get married. Between Harrison Hot Springs, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, Hope, Surrey, and Langley, you have everything from rustic barns and lakefront lodges to glass greenhouses and mountain resorts. What makes this region so good? Mountains, lakes, forests, and open fields all within a short drive, which means you can get incredible photo variety without leaving the area.

Unlike downtown Vancouver, Fraser Valley venues feel quieter, more private, and way more spacious. Whether you are planning an intimate elopement or a 200-guest celebration, there is something here that fits your style and budget. Lauren and I have photographed at many of these spots over the years, and we have learned exactly where the light hits, which angles work best, and how to make each venue shine no matter what the weather throws at us.

Top Fraser Valley Wedding Venues We Have Photographed

Fraser River Lodge

Fraser River Lodge is one of the most versatile venues in the Fraser Valley, and we have shot there enough times to know it inside out. Sitting on 18 private acres with stunning views of Mt. Cheam and the surrounding mountains, it feels like your own private estate. Year-round weddings, multiple ceremony and reception spaces, and enough room to move around comfortably whether you have 50 guests or 200.

What I love about photographing here: endless photo opportunities across the property, gorgeous natural light in almost every direction, mountain backdrops that never get old, and plenty of space for portraits without feeling rushed. The couple can actually breathe and enjoy their day while we capture it all.

The Secret Garden at Woodbridge Ponds

The Secret Garden in Abbotsford is an absolutely magical venue if you love greenery, natural light, and those romantic garden-party vibes. It features a stunning glass greenhouse that flows into beautiful indoor and outdoor gardens, so you get the best of both worlds on rainy or sunny days. The lush plants, hanging greenery, and thoughtful lighting create an atmosphere that photographs beautifully no matter what time of year.

I have shot here in every season, and the soft light filtering through the glass roof is just chef’s kiss for portraits. Even when it is pouring rain outside, the greenhouse glows. Perfect for intimate to mid-sized weddings and couples who want that garden aesthetic without stressing about weather backup plans.

Harrison Hot Springs Resort

Harrison Hot Springs Resort is a classic Fraser Valley destination venue that combines luxury with that laid-back mountain-resort feel. The hotel sits right on Harrison Lake with sweeping mountain views, lush gardens, and indoor spaces that range from an intimate greenhouse to a grand ballroom. On-site accommodation means your guests can turn your wedding into a weekend getaway, which honestly makes the whole vibe way more relaxed.

What makes it great for photos: the lake as a backdrop, multiple scenic gardens to work with, soft early-morning light before guests arrive, and the mountains framing everything perfectly in golden hour. Lauren and I have learned exactly where to position couples for the best light at different times of day, and this venue delivers every single time.

Mt. Lehman Meadows

Mt. Lehman Meadows is a family-owned farm venue in Abbotsford with genuine rustic charm. Two restored barns, open meadows, and a working farm setting make this perfect for couples who want that barn-wedding aesthetic without feeling cheesy. The grounds change beautifully with the seasons: wildflowers in spring, golden fields in summer, and cozy twinkle-lit receptions in fall.

One of my favourite things about this venue is how authentic it feels. It is a real working farm, so you get those honest details that make photos feel timeless instead of staged. The light during golden hour here is unreal, especially when it streams through the barn doors and lights up all the dust and haze in the air.

The Manor (Langley)

The Manor in Langley is a rustic-meets-modern venue that feels like a private country estate, complete with a beautiful barn-style reception space, outdoor ceremony garden, and landscaped grounds. When we photographed here, the day flowed so easily: outdoor vows surrounded by trees and string lights, cocktails around the outdoor bar, and then a reception that felt more like an elevated backyard party than a traditional ballroom.

The property has a bit of everything for photos—open lawns, a paved ceremony walkway, cozy nooks around the barn, and details like wine barrels, fireplaces, and market lights that come alive after dark. It is a great fit for couples who want a stylish, outdoor-focused wedding with all the comforts of an all-inclusive venue.

Sasquatch Mountain Resort

For couples who want something more alpine and rugged, Sasquatch Mountain Resort is your venue. Located in the mountains just outside the Valley, it offers mountain accommodation, lift-access sightseeing, and terrain that photographs like you are tying the knot on a postcard. Perfect for adventure-minded couples and those who want year-round mountain scenery without travelling too far from the Lower Mainland.

Rowena’s Inn on the River

Rowena’s Inn is pure elegance: a historic manor nestled on the riverfront with manicured gardens, meandering creeks, ponds, and mountain views. It has that timeless Gatsby-esque glamour that works for both classic and modern weddings. The waterfront location and forest backdrop create naturally stunning photos all day long.

I love shooting here because every corner of the property offers something different. You can start with formal portraits in the forest, move to candid moments by the creek, and finish with sunset photos on the dock with mountains in the background. It is one of those rare venues where we never run out of new angles.

Shelby’s Pond

Shelby’s Pond is a one-of-a-kind Chilliwack wedding venue set beside a tranquil pond with panoramic views of Mt. Cheam and the surrounding Fraser Valley farmland. It is a true country property with gardens, open fields, and a big red barn, so you get that rustic farm feel without having to leave the city too far behind.

The outdoor ceremony space looks out over the water and mountains, and then guests can transition seamlessly into the barn and surrounding lawn for cocktails and the reception. With space for up to about 150 guests and lots of room to wander for portraits, it is an amazing spot if you want a relaxed summer wedding with golden-hour light over the pond and fields.

The Lodge on Harrison Lake

The Lodge on Harrison Lake has become one of our favourite spots to photograph intimate weddings and elopements. It is a modern boutique lodge set on 2.5 acres of private beachfront just outside Harrison Hot Springs, with the lake and mountains wrapping around you on three sides. When we shoot here, it genuinely feels like the couple has their own private slice of the West Coast.

Ceremonies usually happen right on the waterfront with Harrison Lake as the backdrop, and then we wander along the beach, docks, and forested edges of the property for portraits as the light changes. The lodge sleeps your closest family and friends on site, so the whole day has this relaxed “weekend away” energy instead of a rushed wedding timeline. It is perfect for elopements and smaller weddings where you want everyone to stay together and really soak in the location.

If you are dreaming of a secluded lakefront wedding with mountain views, sunsets over the water, and a private beach to yourselves, this is one of the best venues in the Fraser Valley to do it.

Ozarks Boathouse & Grill (Future Venue to Watch)

Ozarks Boathouse & Grill sits right on Harrison Lake and is currently focused on lakeside dining, a lively bar, and marina experiences. But the setting has serious potential as a future wedding spot: panoramic lake views, dock access, and a front-row seat to sunset over the mountains. Pacific Northwest Mountains for an Adventure Wedding

Large event venue not for you? Book an Adventure Elopement

Not everyone wants a traditional venue, and that is completely okay. Fraser Valley and the surrounding Pacific Northwest mountains are perfect for adventure elopements: small, intimate ceremonies in stunning outdoor locations that feel like the beginning of an adventure, not the end of planning stress.

Lauren and I have done dozens of adventure elopements over the years, from mountaintop helicopter drops to hidden lakeside ceremonies. What makes these days so special is the freedom. No rigid timelines, no stress about seating charts or catering, just two people saying their vows in an incredible location with us capturing it all. Think mountain lakes, alpine viewpoints, forest trails, and dramatic natural light—with just your partner, maybe a few close friends or family, and us making sure every moment is documented.

If you are the kind of couple who values experience over tradition, adventure elopements might be exactly what you are looking for. Learn more about adventure elopements.

6 Tips for Finding the Perfect Fraser Valley BC Wedding Venues

After shooting hundreds of weddings across the Fraser Valley, I have learned what actually matters when choosing a venue. Here are six things to consider before committing:

1) What style of wedding feels right? Are you picturing a rustic barn, a formal garden, a lakefront lodge, a mountain resort, or something completely different? Your venue should match your vibe, not force you into someone else’s aesthetic. Trust your gut on this one.

2) How many guests are you inviting? Make sure the venue can actually accommodate your headcount comfortably—both for the ceremony and reception. An overcrowded space photographs poorly and feels cramped. Nobody wants their guests squeezed in like sardines.

3) How important are photo opportunities? Consider the scenery. Does it have a view? Multiple backdrops? Good light at your ceremony time? Open fields or intimate gardens? If photography matters to you (and it should), venue aesthetics are worth the conversation. Some venues look great on the website but do not photograph well in real life.

4) What about logistics? Is there room for guests to dance? Space for an outside ceremony? Indoor backup if weather turns? Parking for everyone? Accessible bathrooms? These details matter more than people think, and they can make or break your day.

5) What is included and what costs extra? Can you bring your own vendors and decorations, or are they all-inclusive? What is the cost per guest, and what does that actually include? A cheap venue with hidden fees ends up more expensive than a transparent one. Read the fine print.

6) Visit in your actual season. If you are getting married in winter, visit in winter. If summer, visit in summer. Light, colours, and accessibility change dramatically by season, and you want to see what your day will actually look like. Photos from July do not represent what the venue looks like in November.

Once You Book Your Wedding Venue in the Fraser Valley, Book Us For Your Photography

Once you have locked in your Fraser Valley wedding venue, the next critical step is booking a photographer who knows how to work with that specific space. Every venue has its own light, access points, and photo possibilities—and the difference between a photographer who knows your venue and one who does not is huge.
