Brad and Tinus were married at St. Andrews-Wesley Church in downtown Vancouver and held the reception in the Hotel Georgia. This hotel is one of the most elegant places to photograph in downtown Vancouver. The day began in Brad and Tinus’ Hotel Georgia suite to get some getting ready photos. We then headed over to St. Andrews-Wesley Church, where the couple met up with close friends and family who flew in from as far as Cape Town, South Africa, to take part in this amazing day. Brad was his own wedding planner and figured out all of the details for the wedding, and Tinus’ only request was that it needed to be in a really nice church. Well, Brad found a beautiful old heritage church in downtown Vancouver. The elegant stained glass windows, vaulted ceilings and dramatic lighting made St. Andrews-Wesley Church the perfect church for the couple. Brad didn’t skip a beat by adding in some orange-leaved trees to make it look very majestic. After the ceremony, we headed out for some family photos and then the portrait session. Tinus goes out jogging to Beaver Lake in Stanley Park every day, so they decided to have their portrait session in an area they know well and love. We walked along the Ravine Trail, taking advantage of every bridge, mossy tree and body of water that was around us. Of course, in Vancouver fashion, heavy rain started pouring. Luckily, we came prepared and got some beautiful shots of the couple at Beaver Lake under their umbrellas. Afterward, we headed to Coal Harbour to finish off the portrait shoot. Brad and Tinus’ families are both from Cape Town, a coincidence they found out after becoming a couple. So the inspired decor was to symbolize their heritage, by bringing in exotic flowers from Cape Town (which apparently were pretty hard to get!). The elegant Spanish Ballroom had accents of these exotic flowers around the room and as centerpieces, as well as soft lighting and candles. The night was filled with high emotions, love, laughter and lets not forget, crazy dancing! The wedding dance floor was packed from the moment it opened to the very end of the night. Even after the DJ called last song, the crowd was chanting, “ONE MORE SONG”. This was a beautiful, fun wedding, and Brad and Tinus are amazing and so much fun to work with.
