The town has a population of about 3,000 people and is known for its laid-back lifestyle. Sayulita offers visitors an opportunity to experience Mexican culture without the hustle and bustle of larger cities like Puerto Vallarta or Cabo San Lucas.

Story From the EPIC Sayulita, Mexico Destination Wedding at Villa Amor
This wedding was a long time in the planning stages. It was first cancelled because of travel restrictions due to COVID-19. All of the vaccinations rolled out and the timing was perfect for them to have their intimate outdoor wedding.
I am so excited to share with you some of my favourite photos from the day of the wedding. The day started off in the Villa Amor with the bride and groom getting ready on-site in separate rooms. It was a perfect sunny day. The bride wore a custom RED corset wedding dress. Her hair and makeup were done by Funky Diva. The groom had an amazing red suit that was super stylish.
First look inside the Kissing Garden at Villa Amor
Upon making their way down the long flight of stairs going down the mountainside, they arrived at the kissing garden. It was a beautiful enclosed garden surrounded by trees and plants with Mexican architectural details. It was one of their favourite places in the area. This couple had an amazing first look with an epic moment right in the middle of the garden. You could feel just how emotional it was as he saw her for the first time! And you can guess what happened next. They shared a kiss!
Wedding Photo Locations in Sayulita, Mexico
I really enjoyed the variety of locations we used for our shoot, and we were lucky enough to visit Sayulita’s world-famous beaches. We found some really secluded rocky places that were great for exploring. We went on a quick photoshoot around Sayulita which was really fun! There are so many pretty spots in town. We drove back to the Villa Amor by golf cart, which it seemed everyone in town has one to get around!
Amazing small wedding ceremony overlooking cliffs and ocean
The ceremony took place in a beautiful outdoor setting on the Gran Villa patio overlooking the cliffs and the ocean. The bride walked down the aisle to a Mariachi band playing live in the background. The bride and groom said their vows in front of their loved ones and officiant that was a friend. They exchanged rings, as well as a special family heirloom from the groom’s grandmother. Everyone was beyond thrilled to be a part of their day, and there were lots of happy tears during the entire ceremony. Then they shared their first kiss as husband and wife overlooking the beautiful ocean and venue.
Most epic wedding cocktail hour on the beautiful balcony with Mariachi Band
After the small wedding ceremony at the stunning venue, guests enjoyed cocktails and danced on the balcony to the mariachi band. The setting was one of the most scenic views we have seen! This is why you have a destination wedding in Mexico! For experiences like this!
Outdoor Mexico Destination Wedding Reception
They wanted to have an outdoor wedding reception with a Mexican flair. The setup had long tables that look great outdoors, with lots of string lights and flowers set up accenting all the amazing Mexican style details which were designed and executed perfectly by Tara Thorpe by Forever True International Wedding Design.
Their wedding was also on Halloween, which was the bride’s favourite holiday. There were lots of cool details that were perfect for the night!
They had a wonderful wedding night with plenty of traditional touches. They danced the first dance and then threw an epic party!
How They Met
The bride was working as a teaching assistant at the film school that the groom was attending. It was all very secret, and no one lost their job! This was back in 2005, and so far, the groom hasn’t regretted asking the bride to move in with him.
About Their Proposal
The groom secretly went about acquiring a ring from an artist that the bride had been not-so-subtly hinting that she wanted. Then, at her birthday party, he gave it to her as a gift and “maybe also an engagement ring?”. “Sure!” she said. “We promise it was way more romantic than it sounds“
What They Love Doing Together
They both work in the film/television industry, and given that they met in film school, they watch way too many movies and TV shows. They also both like reading and cats. “Our two cats are pretty much the center of the universe.” Lately, they have got out cross-country skiing, and are both pretty passionate about wine, which they consume after skiing, and while watching all those TV shows.

The first step is to decide on the date, the location, and the number of guests.

Once you have chosen your venue, then you will need to decide on the style of your wedding – whether that be rustic or elegant.
Then comes deciding on what type of food and drinks you would like served at your wedding.
