Rainy Day Wedding

Well lets face it, the west coast is a rainy place, and even on months where it’s practically a drought, rain can surprise us at any moment. So what do you do? Embrace it! Kathryn and Chris had their wedding at Fraser River Lodge, a rustic wedding venue surrounded by mountains and fields. They were all set for an outdoor ceremony, but due to rain, they made some last minute changes to have it under a tent the venue supplied, and it all worked out perfect.

The Fraser Valley has a certain tone and ambiance to it that gives photos a certain look to it. Even though Mt. Cheam was covered with low lying clouds that day, the scenery was still stunning and the clouds gave it a very dramatic feeling to the photos creating a beautiful and simple backdrop. Chris made his own archway which was to be used for the ceremony, so instead, we incorporated it into their wedding portrait photos once the rain stopped, and it was a great prop to use.

What we love about couple’s having their wedding at this reception, the room is a blank canvas, and therefore you can decorate however you want. Kathryn loves candles and flowers and wanted a statement piece which was the hanging floral chandelier with soft drapery and twinkle lights, and that just filled the room and made it look so magical.

Things happen during a wedding, and sometimes nature throws a curve ball, but it’s all about how you handle it and make it work for your day. Kathryn and Chris went with the flow and didn’t care about getting a bit wet or dirty for photos, and we think they turned out awesome because they were embracing it and had fun! Thank you Kathryn and Chris for being such amazing clients and we wish you a lifetime of happiness!
