Quality Photography Experience That Is Different.

Getting Ready at Arundel Mansions in New Westminster

We love when a couple chooses venues this full of character. Arundel Mansions Hotel was the perfect place to start this New Westminster wedding day, and went with brides vibe. The vintage suites and tall windows fit our dramatic yet candid style, and the quiet hallways gave the bride space to breathe while she got ready with a few of her favourite people. The groom stayed close by at his condo in New West, just minutes away from the bride, which kept the morning relaxed and personal.

Dramatic Yet Candid New Westminster Wedding Photography

We love working as New Westminster wedding photographers because the city has so many different looks in such a small area. This couple originally found us while searching for photos of weddings at their venue, which is very dark and open, so it’s a very tricky venue to photograph in (but not for us!). They loved how we captured that venue, and that our photos feel dramatic without being stiff. Our approach is always to build striking light and composition around real moments, so they can fully lean into their day and trust that the story will be covered.

First Look at Tipperary Park’s Quiet Greenery

This was our first time photographing at Tipperary Park, and it was a really great spot for New Westminster wedding photos. The park was beautiful, full of greenery, little waterfalls, and surprisingly not busy, so the couple could wander the paths, tuck into the greenery and enjoy their first look without an audience. Her red wedding dress looked incredible against the trees and paths, which makes this location a great option for couples searching for outdoor ceremonies and portraits in New West.

Waterfront Wedding Photos at Westminster Pier Park

After Tipperary Park, we headed down to Westminster Pier Park for more portraits along the water. The boardwalk, bridges and skyline gave us a more urban wedding feel while still keeping that Fraser River backdrop that New Westminster is known for. The combination of the bold red dress, city views and candid interaction is perfect inspiration for couples looking for unique wedding photos in New West that still feel true to who they are.

Outdoor Ceremony at Inn at the Quay on the Fraser River

Their ceremony took place at Inn at the Quay, one of the most iconic waterfront wedding venues in New Westminster. Guests watched the couple exchange vows with views over the river, and the bride walked down the aisle with a close friend who means a lot to her, which was such a meaningful touch for an alternative wedding in a classic hotel setting. Inn at the Quay is ideal for couples searching for New Westminster wedding venues with outdoor ceremony options and easy access to the boardwalk for photos.

Alternative Red Dress Wedding with a Personal Processional

The couple was very sweet, and the bride’s red dress was absolutely stunning in every part of the day. We loved how they mixed traditional moments like vows and a processional with details that felt unconventional and deeply personal, such as being walked down the aisle by a close friend. It is exactly the kind of balance many couples are looking for when they search for alternative weddings in Vancouver and non‑traditional weddings in New Westminster.

Moody Urban Reception at The Metro Hall in New West

The reception moved to The Metro Hall in downtown New West, a moody, lounge‑style venue with high dark ceilings and warm chandeliers. It is the type of space that can be tricky for photos, but it is exactly where we thrive, using dramatic off‑camera lighting to keep the atmosphere while still showing all the emotion. This was one of the reasons why this couple hired us, is because they saw our work and knew we could handle the venue and get amazing photos. The Metro Hall is a great fit for couples looking for a glamorous urban wedding venue in New Westminster that feels a little different from a traditional ballroom.

Dramatic Lighting for a Dark, Atmospheric Wedding Venue

Because The Metro Hall has such high ceilings and pockets of deep shadow, we leaned into the mood and used our lighting to sculpt the couple and their guests. This is the kind of setting that draws couples to our work when they search for moody wedding photography, dramatic reception lighting and urban weddings that feel rich and layered. It is always rewarding to show couples how beautiful these challenging spaces can look when they are photographed with intention.

Escape Room Wedding Reception Ideas for Game‑Loving Couples

One of the most important  and exciting things for this couple was the custom mini escape room they designed for each table at the reception. The Groom loves escape rooms and plays them often, so they built that into the wedding as a puzzle for guests to solve when they first arrive to their tables. It is such a good idea for anyone searching for escape room wedding reception ideas or interactive wedding games, and it reminded us of another North Vancouver wedding we photographed where the couple created a full escape room experience for their guests.

Dancing, Karaoke and a Packed Urban Wedding Party

The rest of the night was exactly what you want from an urban wedding reception. There were heartfelt speeches, a mother–son dance and then non‑stop dancing in one room while guests belted out their favourite karaoke songs in the other. It was such a fun use of the space, and it really gave a lot of options for the guests during the party.

Planning an Alternative New Westminster Wedding That Feels Like You

What we loved most about this wedding is how the couple truly made it their own. From portraits in their favourite parks to a stunning non-traditional red dress and a sleek white suit, escape room adventures, and karaoke, every detail reflected who they are. By skipping traditions that didn’t resonate with them, their day felt all the more meaningful.

If you’re looking for a New Westminster wedding photographer who loves creating dramatic yet candid photos in challenging light, we’d love to hear your story and capture your wedding exactly how you want to celebrate it.
