Kim and Pat's Port Moody and Coquitlam wedding was so much fun to be a part of. When we had our initial consultation with Kim and Pat, they were incredibly happy and laid back and seemed really excited about our work. We liked them as soon as we met them. When their wedding day came around, we were really stoked to do a wedding in our neighbourhood. We love the atmosphere in Port Moody and have been living in this small city for about 3 years now. We wanted to bring in all the awesome aspects that Port Moody has to offer into this wedding. It has a small community feel, epic landscapes with oceans, mountains, gorgeous nature and more. Kim and Pat live here as well, so it was easy coming up with great locations that meant a lot to them. They both got ready in Port Moody, Kim got ready at her parents house, where Mink Makeup and Hair put together Kim's gorgeous look, Pat got ready at their condo minutes from the church. They had a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Port Moody. White pumpkins and flowers lined the aisle, which is really cool for a fall wedding. After the ceremony, we headed over to Rocky Point Park, which has some great memories for the couple because their relationship started when they were both working at The Boathouse restaurant at that park. We used the dock with the mountain and ocean landscape, as well as the actual restaurant. After that, we headed over to the Port Moody Firehall, where Pat works as a firefighter. Pat had some props he wanted to use with their wedding party with the fire truck, as well as some portraits of the two of them. We love integrating props or locations that mean something to our couples! For the last location on the portrait session, we recommended Buntzen Lake because it's visually one of the most spectacular parks in Lower Mainland. If you haven't been there before, then I highly suggest you go check it out. There's a great dog park there, and Kim and Pat actually take their dog there all the time, so they were really excited to get photos there. The reception at Westwood Plateau in Coquitlam was decorated beautifully by Kristy Wyllie from Chic & Unique Event Design, who brought in pumpkins, lanterns, wood accents, and candles to go with the fall theme of their wedding, and she finished it off with a big, light up Love sign as a backdrop behind the wedding couple. Kristy also was the day of wedding coordinator as well and did an awesome job keeping the wedding on track. The reception started off with the couple getting 'iced', then followed shortly after with Pat and his groomsmen having to shotgun a beer. These guys really know how to get a party started! They had duelling pianos, Sonic Flower, which were amazing entertainment, and such a unique vendor to have for a wedding, and then DJ Kalee Ruhmour took over later in the evening keeping the dance floor full. Thank you so much Kim and Pat for choosing us to be your photographers, you guys were awesome! - Lauren
