From my very first call with M+A to chat about their wedding plans, I felt an instant connection and genuine excitement with a couple whose energy truly matched ours. This was our first experience photographing a wedding on Vancouver Island, and the opportunity to travel to Tofino for their destination micro wedding at Cox Bay, right in front of Long Beach Lodge Resort, was such an honour. Knowing our style resonated so deeply with them that they chose us for such a meaningful location made it extra special.
Even during that initial phone conversation, it was clear we shared a vision; our photography style spoke to them, and their plans for an intimate micro wedding excited us. When their wedding day finally arrived and we met face-to-face, it felt less like greeting new clients and more like meeting old friends. There was a comfort and genuineness from the very beginning, making the day feel natural and relaxed. That instant connection carried through every moment and can be felt in the photos, where the unique west coast scenery—mist rolling over Cox Bay Beach—framed their celebration beautifully. The laughter, creativity, and heartfelt atmosphere made every image stand out against the backdrop of Tofino’s wild coastline.
Dreaming Up an Intimate Vancouver Island Beach Wedding

The beach ceremony site is mere steps from the lodge, with views of crashing waves and wild coastline providing a classic West Coast backdrop. Couples have the flexibility of a true beach ceremony on a sandy beach and salt air in the breeze, as well as beautiful indoor spaces in case the weather shifts. It’s a venue tailored for romance and adventure, making every moment both cozy and grand.
The Magic of Misty Tofino
Tofino’s signature is its ever-changing weather, and this couple’s wedding day was especially cinematic. Mist rolled in from the Pacific, wrapping Cox Bay in soft light and creating a scene straight out of a dream. It was exactly what the brides dreamed of for their micro wedding. The tide was low for the ceremony and portrait session, allowing us to access these dramatic rock formations for some amazing portraits, and we finished in a gnarly wind-swept forest, capturing the essence of Tofino, with images that feel timeless and filled with adventure.
Their Love Story
Each wedding tells a unique story, and this wedding was shaped by chance, humour, and bold adventures. Their relationship began in a Facebook group, blossomed through late-night chats and music swaps, and grew deeper thanks to shared journeys, even surviving a few missed signals. The proposal in Switzerland, set in front of a waterfall, perfectly suits their authentic and playful spirit and also sets the stage for how they wanted to celebrate their wedding, surrounded by gorgeous nature.
