Kate and Nick are originally from BC, but they met in 2009 while working at a summer internship at Statistics Canada in Ottawa, ON. Since they started dating, they have lived all over North America, in British Columbia, Ontario, Maine, Rhode Island, and now Pennsylvania. They came back to their roots in Vancouver to celebrate their wedding with close family and friends at the elegant Hycroft Manor. We started off the day with the couple at Stanley Park getting portraits of just the two of them around the rose garden (which is one of their favourite places) and a few other wooded areas around the park. We then headed to Hycroft to get some portraits around the manor utilizing all of the beautiful decor and architecture inside and out. Their wedding was beautifully decorated by Éclat Decor, and floral arrangements and bouquet by the talented Tala Florist. They had amazing weather for their outdoor wedding on the terrace, and immediately after the ceremony Kate did a bouquet toss to all the single ladies and gents. What is really interesting with a lot of weddings that we photograph is they are mostly fusion weddings, where our couple's include a few of their own wedding traditions into their day. They included a Chinese tea ceremony with both sets of parents, and the couple came into the reception with a grand entrance singing a Chinese song, which had everyone cheering! They also included a first dance, cake cutting and speeches. It never feels like we do the same wedding twice. Thank you Kate and Nick for including us in your Hycroft and Stanley Park wedding. It was amazing getting to know the two of you, and the opportunity to document such a special event! - Lauren
