M+L had a entertaining Chinese wedding at the Pacific Gateway Hotel, along with a reception at the Continental Seafood Restaurant in Richmond, BC.
Chinese Tea Ceremony and Door Games
The bride got ready at her parents house in the morning, while the groom was getting ready at the same hotel as their ceremony. One of their favourite things to do as a couple is building lego together. So during the Chinese door games, one of the games was building a lego rose with all of the groomsmen, then after, the groom had to walk across lego pieces on the ground while blindfolded (which seems like a nightmare). After the games, they had a tea ceremony with her family, a first look after she changed into her white wedding dress, and then we went off for the portrait session at a beach in Richmond.
Richmond Hotel Ceremony
The ceremony was in Pacific Gateway Hotel, where over 300 guests came to celebrate these two getting married! All of their decor had a really personal touch to it. Their backdrop was hexagonal shelves with a bunch of their favourite things on it that they grabbed from their home. They wrote their own vows which were very touching. I think creating your own vows really puts a nice, personal touch to the ceremony. It seems to always bring emotions to the surface and it’s a great moment to just speak the truth of why you love one another.
Chinese Seafood Restaurant Reception
Their reception was the traditional eight course Chinese dinner. Between each course, they had speeches, cheersing of the tables, and then their first dance. They had a choreographed wedding dance, which broke out in a dance mob at the end! It was constant entertainment, and their guests just partied and danced the rest of the night away. It was such a fun wedding and we are so happy that M+L chose us to photograph such a special day!
