Nicole and Dalton live in Calgary, AB and travelled to Vancouver for their wedding. Nicole really wanted an outdoor ceremony for their spring wedding, and it seems like Vancouver is basically the only place in Canada with consistent warm weather and gardens in full bloom by April. They celebrated their outdoor ceremony in the garden out front of Stanley Park Pavilion.
Outdoor wedding at the Stanley Park Pavilion
It was calling for sunny weather that day, but in Vancouver fashion, right before the ceremony, the clouds came out and it started sprinkling. We were all crossing our fingers for the rain to stop, then just before the ceremony was about to start, luck was on Nicole and Dalton’s side and the rain stopped. The staff at Stanley Park Pavilion quickly started drying up the chairs, guests took their seats, the orchestra was playing, and the show went on. Dalton was dressed in his Calgary RCMP uniform, Nicole looked stunning walking down the aisle accompanied by her father and step father, the garden looked like something out of a fairytale, it was a perfect ceremony.
Capilano Suspension Bridge Wedding Photos
Dalton really wanted to get Capilano Suspension Bridge wedding photos during the portrait session. They have both never visited the Suspension Bridge, but like the idea of it from the photos they’ve seen before. Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of the hottest tourist places in BC, with a big suspension bridge, an ewok style bridge in the trees and other areas suspended hundreds of feet in the air that overlook the Capilano River. This is our first time taking wedding photos at this location, so we scouted it out before the day of the wedding to find our spots and make the most of this location. On their wedding, there were thousands of tourists all around this park, and I don’t know how we did it, but we managed to make it look like Nicole and Dalton had this entire place to themselves. I give it up to this couple, they were calm, relaxed and patient while people were constantly passing by them on tiny bridges, and then after it was clear, they went right back into position. FYI: Nicole is a pro. She walked this entire park in 6″ heels, including the suspension bridge which was constantly shaking and moving! She had her dress in one hand, flowers in the other, and never lost her balance once. It blew my mind!
Wedding Reception River Rock Casino in Richmond
After we were done, we headed over to their reception at River Rock Casino in Richmond in the Whistler Ballroom. Their entire wedding was planned and executed perfectly by Create Weddings and Events, with decor by Budget Blooms and Kawano Decor and Design. Thank you Nicole and Dalton for choosing us to photograph such a beautiful day! You were so easy to work with, and we had so much fun with you! – Lauren
