As we are beginning this 2016 wedding season, I wanted to post Reiko and Troy's Bridges Restaurant wedding from last year. It was our last wedding of 2015, and we are so happy that we ended it photographing this amazing couple. Reiko and Troy have been together for 12 years, and got married within a week of their 12th anniversary. In the last 3 years, they had a long distance relationship because Troy had to move to the United States to pursue his education to get a PhD. I've never had to go through a long distance relationship before, but I would think after being together for 9 years, and spending the last 3 years apart would be a very hard decision to make. Reiko finally reunited with Troy a month before their wedding, and she made the big move to California. Reiko and Troy love Vancouver, and they wanted a very Vancouver-y style wedding. They choose Granville Island Hotel to get ready at in the morning, and also have their first look at. We all hopped on a trolley, and went to Coal Harbour for the portrait session. Troy loves the architecture, and we wanted to use that location to keep them out of the rain and get some interesting photos. We went to the lighthouse, which they really loved, and we had some extra time and took them to Third Beach to end off the session. Reiko mentioned they make all of their biggest decisions along beaches and water, so this last location meant something special for them. They were married at Bridges Restaurant on Granville Island. The restaurant overlooks the city and bridges in downtown, and is a beautiful, scenic location. The wedding was gorgeous, and went so smoothly. A Vancouver-y wedding isn't complete without a bit of rain in the winter months. So we took the couple outside for some night photos in the rain, and Will does what he did best, and got some epic Vancouver rain photos overlooking the city and incorporating some of the Christmas lights that were set up in Granville Island. It was an amazing day, and we had to improvise with the weather, but it all worked out for the best! Reiko and Troy, we appreciate that you chose us to photograph your wedding! You were both so funny and laid back, and easy to work with. You made the last wedding of our 2015 season a dream! - Lauren
