Quality Photography Experience That Is Different.

After being friends for over 20 years, Meghan and Chris finally tied the knot in the most laid-back, heartfelt way possible. Their rustic barn wedding on a private ALR property in Langley, BC, was bursting with personal touches, sunshine, and good vibes.

It was the kind of day where guests kicked off their shoes, emotions ran high, and the setting sun painted the Fraser Valley sky.

A Langley Farm Wedding with Heart

The venue, The Manor Farm in Langley, was the perfect backdrop. Set on a well-manicured private property, it offered everything from a beautiful rustic barn to wide open outdoor space for the ceremony and portraits (See wedding venues with indoor and outdoor spaces). One of the things I loved most was the contrast: the barn’s dark wood tones mixed with the bright summer light created the kind of natural contrast photographers dream of.

If you’re looking for a barn wedding venue in Langley or a Fraser Valley farm wedding setting, this place is an absolute gem. It offers the intimacy of a backyard wedding with the polish of a curated wedding venue. And yes, there’s lots of parking. (Always a win.)

Photographing a Farm Wedding in Tough Light? Here’s How We Nailed It

Midday summer sun is no joke, especially when you’re moving between bright exteriors and dark barn interiors. That’s where our off-camera flash setup comes in, as it helps us control the light without sacrificing the natural vibe. By positioning our subjects with the sun at their backs and using subtle fill light, we’re able to bring out the rich detail and colour, especially during portraits and indoor moments.

Here’s how we deal with harsh light in wedding photography

On-Site Portraits for a Relaxed Wedding Timeline

The layout made it easy to photograph everything on-site. From the barn’s textured wood to the grape vines and cute little flower garden, the property gave us a variety of natural backdrops with no driving around and no time crunch. That’s always something I recommend for couples planning backyard or farm-style weddings: pick a location where everything can happen in one place and your whole day feels more relaxed.

Ceremony & Reception Flow

The couple held their outdoor wedding ceremony surrounded by trees and close friends, then moved effortlessly into a barn reception filled with heartfelt speeches, a first dance that turned into a group celebration, and great food by Ocean West Catering. Every part of the day flowed easily from one moment to the next, and that’s a testament to their planning (and the awesome vendor team).

And dinner? Meghan and Chris served up a taco bar, the first time we’ve ever seen that in our 17 years of photographing weddings! It was such a fun and personal touch. They even had an epic collection of hot sauces, which was amazing. Guests loved the interactive, help-yourself vibe, and it added to the relaxed, backyard celebration feel.

Pro Tip: Planning a Farm or Backyard Wedding?

Here’s one of my biggest tips: If you’re having an outdoor ceremony, try to position the altar so the sun is behind you. It’ll make for more flattering photos and keep you from squinting during your vows. Also, make sure you have a rain backup plan just in case. It’s the West Coast, after all.

Would I Recommend The Manor Farm? 100%.

This Langley wedding venue is a dream for rustic barn lovers. It’s private, spacious, and gives off those cozy, down-to-earth vibes that just can’t be faked. Whether you’re planning a blowout party or something more intimate, it photographs beautifully from every angle.
